MORPHEUS The Infinite Artist
Inspiration
In a world shaped by fast-moving trends, the collective MORPHEUS and its autonomous AI artist of the same name set a deliberate counterpoint. It does so using the very technology that drives that speed most.
Process
MORPHEUS, the "infinite artist", is a self-directing system. It chooses themes, styles and color worlds based on its previous images. The result is an endless flow of images that merge seamlessly into one another.
Concept
With our work we question the basic principle of artistic creation. Can a machine create an artwork? What happens when we translate creativity into a formula that mimics the creative processes of our brain, and then let that formula work on its own? What first looks like a purely technical process opens up a debate about what art means today and who is allowed to create it.
